KL PUTRAJAYA HIGHWAY

We have been appointed by Leighton Contractors (M) Sdn Bhd as the beam launching contractor to execute the launching of T-Beams at Span 45 and Span 46. The launching of beams at these two spans are the most difficult in terms of a limited working area available, very far working radius, longest beam (50 meter) and heaviest beam (130mt). Besides, we were required to launch the beam across the existing LRT line which increased the difficulty.

After our technical studies, our engineering department had produce the rigging studies with attached drawings and methods of statement for submission to KL Rapid for approval before work could commence. Our proposal was to use two (2) units 160 tonnes Truck Crane for loading the beam at the casting yard, two (2) units Prime Movers complete with 4 x 4 lines hydraulic trailer to transport the beams and one (1) unit of 300 tonnes Ringer Crane (Manitowoc 4100 S1 Ringer S3) and two (2) units of 300 tonnes Truck Crane to launch the beams into the final position. Our job included the supplying of all lifting tools, rigging team to assist in supervision and all rigging works during the launching operation. Step 2. Prime Mover complete with 4 x 4 axles hydraulic trailer loaded with a beam being transported from the casting yard to the launching site.

Step 3. A 300 tonnes Ringer Crane lifting up one end of the beam and slowly swinging it while at the same time, the trailer reversed to the location where the 300 tonnes Truck Crane had reached to pick up the other end of the beam.

Step 4. A 300 tonnes Truck Crane lifting up the other end of beam.

Step 5. A 300 tonnes Ringer Crane and 300 tonnes Truck Crane maneuvering and launching the beam into final position.

A 500 tonnes Truck Crane (Demag AC1600) and a 300 tonnes Truck Crane (Liebherr LT1300) in tandem lifting and launching of a T-Beam (45m long/120mt), onto the final position.
